What is Hypnotherapy?

 

Hypnotherapy generally refers to the therapeutic use of hypnosis, to help change habits, lessen symptoms, or treat conditions such as anxiety, stress, fears, phobias. It can successfully and significantly boost self confidence and self esteem. There are different types of Hypnotherapy, and different ways of being hypnotised and as all hypnosis is self hypnosis anyone can come out of it at any point during the process as they are always in full control.

 

What happens in a session?

 

In the first instance we will have an informal chat to determine what you hope to achieve and we then will agree what methods are the most appropriate in order to help you best.

 

During the actual online video session I will:

 

  • play relaxing music and talk to you to lead you into a deeply relaxed state – all of my clients enjoy feeling deeply relaxed
  • use our agreed methods to help you (the client) towards your goals – for example, clearing deep seated memories and feelings relating to any past negative issues or experiences before instilling confidence and self worth to allow you to have a happier and more positive outlook on your life.
  • gradually bring you out of the trance-like state, feeling relaxed, happy and refreshed.

 

As noted earlier, you are fully in control at all times during the hypnotic process and massive beneficial changes can be made in a relatively short period of time, particularly compared to other therapies like CBT and Psychotherapy. Additionally, any suggestion that you do not agree with, that is against your moral code if you like, will not be accepted by your unconscious mind. 

 

 

Many clients begin to see the positive impact of hypnosis immediately. However, for clients who have more deeply seated issues it may take further sessions to ensure past debris is cleared away and new positive ideas and behaviours take root. Indeed, I may also provide clients with self-hypnosis techniques to help  reinforce these new viewpoints and ideas of behaviours between sessions.
